Is Umami Friends a TCG? Do I have to buy shiny packs to make a deck?
No. Umami Friends is not a TCG, and everything needed to play is included in the non-randomized base set box and expansion pack.
Umami Friends is in the style of a traditional tabletop game and there is no deckbuilding whatsoever.
If you are into collecting cards, the Shiny Promo Boosters are RANDOMIZED ALT ART PACKS that are reskins of existing cards, or just fun cards with text that do not affect gameplay whatsoever.
Exclusive / Limited Edition releases of Umami Friends cards will never offer a competitive advantage in the competitive ruleset of the game. Think of collectibles as alternative “skins” that may only differ in art and flavor text. I never want exclusivity to be a factor in the core gaming experience.

Will sleeved cards fit in the box?
Yes.

Why are there 3 cards in each Shiny Booster Pack?
Since all the cards needed for gameplay are included in the base set, I decided to take the fluff out of booster packs. In a typical TCG booster, you may pull 10 normal cards and 1 chance at a Rare holofoil. With 1st Edition Shiny Boosters, every card is a Holofoil so there are 3 chances of receiving a Ultra Rare or Secret Rare+. I don’t know if I will continue this trend with future releases, but the 1st Edition Boosters will be set up this way so they are a very good value to backers.

How do "Add-Ons" work, and how do I add these to my pledge?
After you select your pledge, you will be presented with a list of add-ons within Kickstarter. You may elect to add these to your pledge. If you decide after the campaign that you wish to add to your order, you may be able to do that – just be aware that the late Pledge Manager may not be the same as the Kickstarter options and you may not have access to all options or the same prices as you do during the Kickstarter campaign.

What material are the cards, mats, and pins?
Cards utilized in shuffling are made of 320gsm blackcore for best performance and longevity. Holofoils are printed on a different artpaper material for best visual appearance. They are a bit heavier due to their holofoil material. They never shuffled so their focus is on visual appearance.
Mats are 2mm neoprene.
Pins I am testing samples between soft enamel, soft dyed enamel, soft enamel + epoxy, and hard enamel. Hard enamel is often preferred but does not translate some colors as well. I will ultimately pick the best end result.

Are 1st Edition Cards Kickstarter Exclusive?
While the 1st Edition print run will be very limited, it is NOT 100% Kickstarter Exclusive. The first print run size will be based on the amount of Kickstarter orders, and then rounded up to the nearest price break. For example, if 700 orders are placed, the first print run may be rounded to 1000 orders, leaving 300 1st-Edition boxes available for sale post-Kickstarter. Kickstarter is the only guaranteed way to receive 1st-Edition promos. 1st Edition cards will never be printed with the same mark again following the initial run.

What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!
The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.
How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
